Report: Harrisburg spent $9,667 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Harrisburg Community Unit School District 3 is up 4 percent from five years ago, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Saline County school district spent $9,293 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $9,667 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2156 to 1921.

Harrisburg's spending in 2017-18 was 27.5 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
