Galatia Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met May 16.

The special meeting of the Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board was held in the boardroom at the Annex. Roll call was taken, and those present were Tim Pribble, Joy Richey, Elaine Jackson, Aaron Allen. B.J. Pigg, and Bryan McCabe. Six (6) members present. Board President, Tim Pribble called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
1. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Jackson to enter executive session at 7:02 p.m. Pribble aye, Richey-aye, Jackson-aye, McCabe-aye, Pigg-aye, and Allen-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
2. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by McCabe to end the executive session at 10:06 p.m. Pigg aye, Richey-aye, Jackson-aye, Allen-aye, McCabe-aye, and Pribble-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
3. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Allen to approve the executive session minutes. McCabe aye, Pigg-aye, Jackson-aye, Allen-aye, Pribble-aye, and Richey-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
4. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to employ Abbie Hart as a grade school teacher for the district, for the 2019/2020 school year, per salary schedule, and pending a background check. Allen aye, McCabe-aye, Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, Richey-aye, and Jackson-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
5. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Jackson to employ Allison McCabe as a grade school teacher for the district, for the 2019/2020 school year, per salary schedule, and pending a background check. Pribble-aye, McCabe-abstain, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, Jackson-aye, and Allen-aye. Five (5) ayes, one (1) abstain, motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT:
6. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by Jackson to adjourn at 10:30 p.m. Pribble-aye, McCabe aye, Richey-aye, Jackson-aye, Pigg-aye, and Allen-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
