Galatia Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Aug. 7.

The special board meeting of the Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board was held in the boardroom at the Annex. Roll call was taken, and those present were Tim Pribble, Joy Richey, Aaron Allen, Bryan McCabe, B.J. Pigg, and Elaine Jackson. Brandi Hankins was absent. Six (6) members present and one (1) member absent. Board President, Tim Pribble called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m.
VISITORS:
There were no visitors in attendance.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
1. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by McCabe to enter executive session at 6:56 p.m. Allen aye, Jackson-aye, Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, McCabe-aye and Richey-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
2. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Allen to end executive session at 8:50 p.m. McCabe-aye, Pigg-aye, Jackson-aye, Allen-aye, Pribble-aye, and Richey-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
3. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to approve the executive session minutes. Jackson aye, Pigg-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, McCabe-aye, and Allen-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
4. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by McCabe to accept Eliza Arnold's resignation as elementary secretary. Jackson-aye, McCabe-aye, Pigg-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, and Allen-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
5. A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Pribble to employ Kim Hankins as elementary secretary at the advertised rate. Pribble-aye, Allen-aye, McCabe-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, and Jackson-aye. Six(6) ayes, motion carried.
6. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Allen to remove Eliza Arnold from the grade school activity fund checking account immediately. Jackson-aye, Allen-aye, McCabe-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, and Pigg-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
7. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by McCabe to add Kim Hankins with signature authority to the grade school activity fund checking account immediately. Pigg-aye, Allen-aye, McCabe-aye, Pribble aye, Richey-aye, and Jackson-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
8. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by Pigg to approve Gretchen Mayberry, as elementary yearbook editor for the 2019/2020 school year, with stipend per Collective Bargaining Agreement Jackson-aye, McCabe-aye, Pigg-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, and Allen-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried
ADJOURNMENT:
9. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by Pigg to adjourn at 9:00 p.m. Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, Allen aye, McCabe-aye, Jackson-aye, and Richey-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
