Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17 Board of Education Met Feb. 25.

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board President Derek Demaret and Andrew Weaver taking the minutes with following board members present:

Present at the hearing: Derek Demaret, Rennie Cates, Lance Hinkle, Andrew Weaver 

Absent at the hearing: Chris Barbre, Lachelle Thompson & Beth Titzer

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session and destruction of closed session minutes were then approved on a motion by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Rennie Cates. The votes were as follows:

Derek Demaret – yes                    Lance Hinkle – yes

Lachelle Thompson –absent        Andrew Weaver –yes

Rennie Cates –yes                        Beth Titzer – absent

Chris Barbre – absent

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Rennie Cates to approve the bills and payroll for February 2021 as presented. The votes were as follows:

Derek Demaret – yes                    Lance Hinkle – yes

Lachelle Thompson –absent        Andrew Weaver –yes

Rennie Cates –yes                        Beth Titzer – absent

Chris Barbre – absent

A motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Lance Hinkle to approve the employment of Britt Shepherd as Jasper CCSD 17 Treasurer effective immediately. The votes were as follows:

Derek Demaret – abstained          Lance Hinkle – yes

Lachelle Thompson –absent        Andrew Weaver –yes

Rennie Cates –yes                        Beth Titzer – absent

Chris Barbre – absent

A motion was made by Andrew Weaver and seconded by Rennie Cates to approve increasing Anita Vaughan’s hours by 2 hours per day to assist in reading improvement in grades 1 and 2.

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Rennie Cates to approve increasing Extra curricular trip pay for bus drivers to $12.00 per hour, effective immediately and retro-active to include any trips taken this sporting season. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Rennie Cates to approve employing a summer custodial helper for this coming summer at the minimum wage rate required by law. The votes were as follows:

No action was taken to approve the 2021-2022 school calendar.

A final motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Lance Hinkle to adjourn at 6:40 p.m. The votes were as follows:
