Hamilton County Community Unit School District No. 10 Board of Education met Aug. 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Hamilton County Community Unit District No. 10 met in special session at 7:00 p.m., in the Unit Office.

The meeting was called to order by Board President Dennis Lynch. Roll Call was as follows: Present – Steve Becker, Bob Gray, Jeff Lueke, Tim Millenbine, Clint Ragan, Justin Woodrow and Dennis Lynch.

VISITORS/Public Comment – Several community members/parents were present to discuss the current governor mask mandates.

OLD BUSINESS –

Motion by Gray, second by Millenbine to approve the revised Safe Return to School and Continuity of Services Plan for the 2021-2022 school year. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Becker to approve estimate from Marion Concrete to install a concrete parking area in the overflow parking lot across from the main football field entrance. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Becker, Gray, Millenbine, Woodrow, and Lynch. Voting No – Ragan. Motion Carried.

NEW BUSINESS – None

Motion by Millenbine, second by Woodrow to convene in executive session at 7:42 p.m. to discuss appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of a specific employee(s) or office of the public body pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1). Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Millenbine, Woodrow, Becker, Ragan, Lueke, Gray, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Becker to come out of executive session at 8:23 p.m. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Becker, Ragan, Gray, Woodrow, Millenbine, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Woodrow to approve the minutes from executive session. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to accept a letter of resignation from Enrique Guzman, Spanish Teacher, effective August 9, 2021. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Millenbine, Becker, Woodrow, Lueke, Gray, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Woodrow, second by Gray to employ Ingrid Drone as a part-time, hourly Tutor, effective with the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Woodrow, Gray, Lueke, Ragan, Becker, Millenbine, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Ragan to employ Colin Meade as a part-time, hourly Tutor, contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and completion of necessary paperwork, effective August 17, 2021. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Ragan, Becker, Woodrow, Gray, Millenbine, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Becker to approve the voluntary reassignment of Amanda Birkner from Guidance Secretary to an Aide/Student Management & Student Information Systems Specialist, effective August 12, 2021. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Becker, Woodrow, Gray, Millenbine, Lueke, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Becker to post for a Guidance Office Secretary. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Ragan to adjourn. Vote was taken by voice. Motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
