The special meeting of the Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board was held in the boardroom at the Annex. Roll call was taken, and those present were Tim Pribble, Aaron Allen, Joy Richey, Bryan McCabe, B.J. Pigg, and Holly Murphy. Elaine Jackson was absent. Six (6) members present and one (1) member absent. Board President, Tim Pribble called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Also present: Superintendent, Shain Crank and HS Principal, Ashley Launius. This meeting was during the COVID-19 pandemic.
VISITORS: There were no visitors.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
1. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Allen to enter Executive Session at 6:31 p.m. McCabe aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, and Allen-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
2. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to end Executive Session at 7:16 p.m: Pigg-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, and McCabe-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
3. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Allen to approve the Executive Session minutes. Murphy aye, Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, and McCabe-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried,
Art Teacher
4. A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Pigg to employ Natalie Dunk as an art teacher for the 2021/2022 school year, per salary schedule, and pending background check.. Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, Allen-aye, and Pribble-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
Paraprofessional Aide
5. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by McCabe to employ Jessica Whittaker as a paraprofessional aide for the 2021/2022 school year, pending background check. McCabe-aye, Murphy-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, Allen-aye, and Pribble-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
Individual Aide
6. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Allen to employ Lisa Molinarolo as an individual aide for the 2021/2022 school year, pending background check. Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, Richey-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, and Allen-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
JH Math Teacher
7. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to dismiss Kolton King as junior high math teacher for failure to have teaching license. Murphy-aye, Pigg-aye, McCabe-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, and Pribble-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
Resignation
8. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Murphy to accept Jayne Reed's resignation as high school math teacher, effective August 4, 2021. Pigg-aye, McCabe-aye, Murphy-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, and Pribble-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT:
9. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by Murphy to adjourn at 7:30 p.m. Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye,
