Windhorst makes contributions to Harrisburg, Century bass fishing teams

State Rep. Patrick Windhorst (R-Harrisburg) recently made donations to the bass fishing teams of Harrisburg and Century high schools. 

"As a member of the Illinois Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, I have the opportunity to contribute scholarships totaling $500 each year to area youth-oriented outdoor activities." Windhorst said in a Dec. 3 Facebook post. "This year, the Harrisburg High School  Bass Fishing Team and Century High School Bass Fishing Team each received $250 donations."

Windhorst was thanked by members of the community on social media for the donation.

"Thank you to Patrick Windhorst and the Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus for their donation to the Century Bass Fishing Team," Century Schools said in a Dec. 3 Facebook post. 

The Harrisburg High co-ed varsity bass fishing team has a full schedule for 2022. All the matches will be against multiple opponents. The venues for the season are the Lake of Egypt and Lake Clinton. 

The season begins on March 25 with the IHSA sectionals on April 28 and the IHSA State Finals running from May 13 to 14 to decide the state champion in Illinois. All matches are scheduled as beginning early at 6:30 a.m. Marion and Galatia are hosting meets for the team for the opener on March 25 and later in the season on April 15, respectively. All matches are listed as away games on the official website listing the schedule for the year. 

The Illinois Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus includes the following members: U.S. Rep. Mike Bost (R-Carbondale), U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Peoria), U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Champaign), U.S. Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Chicago), U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Rockford) and U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Peoria). Illinois has 1.31 million hunters and anglers who spend $2.34 billion annually in the state and promote 31,597 jobs, making the Sportsmen's Caucus an important role for these legislators.
