Gracyn Willingham of Etowah County in Alabama has signed her intent to compete with the Southeastern Illinois College Falcon Archers for the 2022-2023 season.
As a student at Alabama Connections Academy, Willingham is a member of several clubs which includes Mu Alpha Theta, Rho Kappa, National Honor Society, Etowah County 4-H, Robotics Club, Author’s Corner, Technology Club, Leadership Club, Gaming Club, and Baking Club. She is also an active member of the local 4-H including serving one year as the Northeast Alabama 4-H ambassador and participating in livestock husbandry and showmanship. She has served on the Etowah County Youth Council for the past two years. She is also an active member of the Church of the Highlands in Gadsden, Alabama.
“I am very excited to have Gracyn on the archery team,” says Ricky Sauls, SIC Archery head coach. “She is going to be a great addition to the team. Gracyn is very motivated and always strives to do better. Her enthusiasm is contagious and will spread across the entire team.”
Willingham is a member of the St. Clair County Archery Club. She has competed in ASA, BHA, S3DA, and USA Archery events. While competing with the Falcon Archers, she will be taking courses to earn a degree in diesel mechanics and a certificate in powersports technology. After SIC, she plans to double-major in aerospace engineering and engineering science. She has hopes to become an aerospace and aviation engineer in the United States Air Force.
The SIC Archery Team started with a small group of students as a pilot program in 2011. Since that time, the Falcon Archers have won national awards against Division I universities, added an indoor facility, an indoor team, and host high school tournaments.
