Galatia Community Unit School District Number 1 Board of Education met June 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A special meeting of the Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board was held in the boardroom at the Annex. Roll call was taken, and those present were Tim Pribble, Aaron Allen, Joy Richey, Elaine Jackson, Bryan McCabe, B.J. Pigg, and Holly Murphy. (Seven) members present. Board President, Tim Pribble called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Also present Superintendent, Shain Crank, and JH/HS Principal, Ashley Launius.

VISITORS: There were no visitors.

NEW BUSINESS: Southern FS Card Readers

1. Amotion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to approve card readers to be installed on the diesel fuel tank and the gasoline fuel tank for a total cost of $5,000 from Southern FS. Murphy-aye, McCabe aye, Richey-aye, Jackson-aye, Pigg-aye, Allen-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:

2. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Allen to enter Executive Session at 6:40 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; matters of student discipline or review executive session minutes. McCabe-aye, Jackson-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, and Allen-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

3. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Murphy to end Executive Session at 7:30 p.m. Jackson aye, Pigg-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, and McCabe-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried

4. Amotion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to approve the Executive Session minutes. Murphy aye, Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, McCabe-aye, and Jackson-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

JH/HS Principal

5. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to employ Ashley Launius as the Jr. High/High School Principal with a 5-year contract, for school years FY23-FY27. Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, Richey-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Jackson-aye, and Allen-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried. Bus Driver Pay Scale

6. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by McCabe to adjust the pay scale for bus drivers. Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Jackson-aye, Allen-aye, and Pigg-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried

Permanent Substitute Teacher

7. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by McCabe to employ Heidi Davis as a permanent substitute

teacher for the 2022/2023 school year, per salary scale, and background check. Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Jackson-aye, Pigg-aye, and Allen-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

Permanent Substitute Teacher

8. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by Pigg to employ Lindsey Seidel as a permanent substitute teacher for the 2022/2023 school year, per salary scale, and background check. Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, Richey-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Jackson-aye, and Allen-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

Elementary Teacher

9. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to employ Carrie Rapp as an elementary teacher for the 2022/2023 school year, per salary scale, and background check. Jackson-aye, Allen-aye, Murphy-aye, Pigg-aye, McCabe-aye, Richey-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

Bookkeeper Pay Scale

10. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Allen to adjust the pay scale for the bookkeeper. Murphy aye, McCabe-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, Jackson-aye, Allen-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT:

11. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to adjourn at 7:50 p.m. Jackson-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
