Senator Dale Fowler recently shared a listing of lakes in Southern Illinois and encouraged constituents to enjoy them during National Lakes Appreciation Month.

"It's #NationalLakesAppreciationMonth! Check out this list of Southern Illinois Lakes you can enjoy this summer!" Fowler said in a July 11 Facebook post. "Have additional lakes you enjoy visiting? Share them in our comments section below."

Fowler, a Republican who lives in Harrisburg, was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 2017. His legislative experience includes serving as minority spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Committee and serving on the Agriculture, Transportation, Gaming and Higher Education committees.

In May, Fowler celebrated the opening of the Bulldog Early Learning Academy, a new private-public school in Harrisburg. “This new facility will help Harrisburg continue to provide top-notch early childhood education for generations to come,” Fowler said on Facebook. “Last June, I said I couldn't wait for the day that the doors open and we have the ribbon-cutting for this project.”

In December 2021, he spoke of his Youth Advisory Council and its importance. "Last week I hosted my annual Student Advisory Council, where 56 students from across the 59th District joined me to learn about state government and even draft their own piece of legislation!" Fowler said in a post to his Facebook account on Dec. 15. "Each year, this event reminds me how important it is to give our younger generation the opportunity to learn about and get involved in state government. The students are the future, and this event always highlights just how bright that future can be!"
