Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board of Education met July 18.

A special meeting of the Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board was held in the boardroom at the Annex. Roll call was taken, and those present were Tim Pribble, Joy Richey, Bryan McCabe, and Holly Murphy. B.J. Pigg, Elaine Jackson, and Aaron Allen were absent. Four (4) members present, three (3) members absent. Board President, Tim Pribble called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Also present: Superintendent, Shain Crank, and JH/HS Principal, Ashley Launius.
VISITORS: There were no visitors.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
1. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Murphy to enter Executive Session at 6:02 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; matters of student discipline or review executive session minutes. McCabe-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, and Richey-aye. Four (4) ayes, motion carried.
Aaron Allen entered the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
2. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Richey to end Executive Session at 7:18 p.m. Murphy aye, Pribble-aye, Allen-aye, Richey-aye, and McCabe-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
3. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Murphy to approve the Executive Session minutes. Murphy-aye, Allen-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, and McCabe-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
School Counselor
4. Amotion was made by Pribble and seconded by McCabe to employ Alexis Ragsdale as a school counselor for the 2022/2023 school year, per salary scale, and a background check. Pribble-aye, Allen-aye, Richey aye, Murphy-aye, and McCabe-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Pre-K Aide
5. A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Allen to employ Sarah Heater as the Pre-K aide for the 2022/2023 school year, pending a background check. Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, Murphy-aye, and McCabe-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Bus Driver
6. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by McCabe to employ Angela Cullum as a bus driver for the 2022/2023 school year, pending a background check. Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, and Allen-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Bus Driver
7. A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Murphy to employ Chris Harbison as a bus driver for the 2022/2023 school year, pending a background check. Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe aye, and Allen-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Technology Coordinator
8. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Murphy to employ Heather Anderson as a technology coordinator for 200 days the 2022/2023 school year. Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, and Pribble-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Full-Time Substitute Teacher
9. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by Pribble to employ Alexis Newcomb as a full-time substitute teacher for the 2022/2023 school year, per salary schedule, and pending a background check. Allen-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Richey-aye, and Pribble-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Teacher Aide
10. A motion was made by Allen and seconded by Pribble to employ Alex Rapp as a teacher's aide for the 2022/2023 school year, pending a background check. Richey-aye, Allen-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, and Pribble-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Teacher Aide
11. A motion was made by Richey and seconded by Murphy to employ Michala Prather as a teacher's aide for the 2022/2023 school year, pending a background check. Richey-aye, Allen-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, and Pribble-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Teacher Aide
12. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Richey to employ Kaytlyn Hathaway as an elementary teacher's aide for the 2022/2023 school year, pending a background check. McCabe-aye, Allen-aye, Murphy-aye, Richey-aye, and Pribble-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Physical Education Teacher
13. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Murphy to employ Mark Motsinger as a high school physical education teacher for the 2022/2023 school year, per salary schedule, and pending a background check. Richey-aye, Allen-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, and Pribble-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Resignation
14. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by McCabe to accept Jennifer Tate's resignation effective July 18, 2022. Pribble-aye, Allen-aye, Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, and Richey-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT:
15. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by McCabe to adjourn at 7:35 p.m. Murphy-aye, Pribble aye, Richey-aye, Allen-aye, and McCabe-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
