Jasper Consolidated Community School District #17 Board of Education met July 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board Vice President Lance Hinkle and Beth Titzer taking the minutes, with following board members present:

Present at the hearing: Lance Hinkle, Andrew Weaver, Jon Lafikes, Beth Titzer & Josh Zurliene

Absent at the hearing: Derek Demaret & Jeff Baker

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session and destruction of closed session minutes, treasurer’s report, approval of monthly bills and payroll, mileage rate and resignations of employees Mitsy Elliott, Kristen Frank & board member Jeff Baker, were then approved on a motion by Beth Titzer and seconded by Jon Lafikes

A motion was made by Jon Lafikes and seconded by Josh Zurliene to authorize Shari Berger, Superintedent to prepare the tentative budget for FY23. The votes were as follows:

Andrew Weaver –yes        Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Jon Lafikes and seconded by Beth Titzer to authorize Shari Berger, Superintendent to expend funds prior to final adoption of FY23 budget. The votes were as follows:

Andrew Weaver –yes        Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

No action was taken regarding bus driver pay.

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Andrew Weaver to employ Lacey Bruinsma as school nurse for an hourly rate of $30.00. The votes were as follows:

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Beth Titzer to employ Anita Vaughan as head cook at a rate of $14 per hour. The votes were as follows:

Andrew Weaver –yes        Jeff Baker – absent

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Andrew Weaver to employ Bridgett Mourey as assistant cook at a rate of $13 per hour. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Andrew Weaver to opt out of sexual education instruction. The votes were as follows:
