State Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) recently took to social media to congratulate Homer Glen village trustee Nicole La Ha Zwiercan on being crowned Mrs. America.
FOX 32 Chicago reports Zwiercan was one of 52 contestants who participated in the national pageant that took place Aug. 20 in Las Vegas.
“Congratulations Nicole, press secretary for the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus on a big, big win last night!!,” Bailey wrote in an Aug. 21 Facebook post. “She was crowned Mrs. America!”
Zwiercan has a degree in studio fine arts and arts history, and a degree in science and dental hygiene, according to Pageant Circle. She is an advocate for making communities more inclusive and accessible for disabled individuals, and has worked with the Special Olympics and the Center for Independence Through Conductive Education.
Zwiercan previously was crowned Mrs. USA Universe in 2018.
FOX 32 Chicago states Zwiercan’s competition days are not over as she will compete for Mrs. World in December.
Bailey, Illinois' GOP gubernatorial candidate, is a third-generation farmer who, along with his sons, own and operates Bailey Family Farm, according to his website.
