Wabash Community Unit School District #348 Board of Education met July 18.

The Board of Education of Wabash Community Unit School District #348, Wabash County, met in Regular Session in the Cafetorium of Mt. Carmel Grade School.
President Tim Schuler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Secretary Janice Alka called the roll. In addition to the secretary, those present were Tim Schuler, Ryan Peter, Neil Earnest, Susan Wood, and Theresa Hocking. Kyle Peach was absent.
Also present were Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer, MCJSH Principal Andrew Shelby, MCJSH COO Steve Holt, Kevin Madden –WSJD, Herb Meeker –Hometown Register, Dawn Drone –WCEA, Barb Earnest –Visitor, Jamie McCorkle –Parent, Pat Johnson –Bus Driver, Laurel Thomas, and District Secretary Kim Zimmer.
President Schuler led the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Alka and seconded by Earnest. A roll call vote was taken and all present voted AYE. Motion Carried. Peach was absent.

Executive Session pursuant to Section 2 (C)(1) of the Open Meetings Act: “The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees”.
At 7:07 p.m. a motion to go into closed session was made by Hocking and seconded by Alka. All present voted Aye. Motion Carried. Peach was absent.
At 7:17 p.m. a motion to return to open session was made by Alka and seconded by Earnest. Motion Carried. Peach was absent.
A motion to approve the minutes as read in closed session was made by Peter and seconded by Hocking. All present voted Aye. Motion Carried. Peach was absent.
New Business
Resolution
President Schuler read the following resolution aloud:
Resolution authorizing the issuance of General Obligation School Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source) of the District in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $4,000,000 pursuant to the Local Government Debt Reform Act of the State of Illinois, as amended, for the purpose of altering, repairing and equipping school buildings and facilities and improving school sites.
Alka motioned to approve the resolution as read and Earnest seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. Voting AYE were Alka, Peter, Earnest, Hocking, and Schuler. Abstaining was Wood. Motion Carried. Peach was absent.
Schedule of Fees
Upon the recommendation from President Schuler, a motion was made by Wood to waive the Registration and Classroom Fees for the 2022-2023 school year. The motion was seconded by Peter. A roll call vote was taken and all present voted AYE. Motion Carried. Peach was absent. It was noted that the Pay to Play and Drivers Ed Fees will remain in place.
Employment of Personnel
A motion to approve the following employment recommendations was made by Hocking and seconded by Alka:
