Wabash Community Unit School District #348 Board of Education met Oct. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Wabash Community Unit School District #348, Wabash County, met in Regular Session in the Cafetorium of Mt. Carmel Grade School.

President Tim Schuler called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Secretary Janice Alka called the roll. In addition to the secretary, those present were Tim Schuler, Ryan Peter, Kyle Peach, Susan Wood, Neil Earnest, and Theresa Hocking.

Also present were Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer, MCJSH Principal Andrew Shelby, MCGS Principal Brianne Foster, MCJSH COO Steve Holt, Kevin Madden –WSJD, Herb Meeker – Hometown Register, Dawn Drone –WCEA, Karin Kelsey – Girls’ Golf Coach, Abbey Carpenter – Girls’ Assistant Golf Coach, Girls Golf Team, and District Secretary Kim Zimmer.

President Schuler led the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Approved by the Board of Education on November 14, 2022

A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Wood and seconded by Hocking. A roll call vote was taken and all present voted AYE. Motion Carried.

Visitors

Karin Kelsey and the Girls’ Golf Team

Coach Kelsey introduced the team members and presented the State Championship trophy to the Board.

Public Comments

There were no public comments.

Superintendent’s Comments

Dr. Bleyer told the Board that the schools were rebounding very well academically since the setbacks due to COVID and remote learning. He plans to further enlighten the board on the each schools’ progress.

Reports

The District Special Education Coordinator Alyson Hicks described her duties and responsibilities.
