State Rep. Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis), the new House Republican Floor leader, recently announced that he had been appointed to several key committees in the Illinois House of Representatives for the 103rd General Assembly.
Windhorst announced his new committee assignments in a Feb. 2 release from his office.
“In my role as Minority Spokesman of the House Judiciary Criminal Law Committee, I will continue to demand policies that respect our police and other law enforcement officials, and work to enact policies that make our communities and families safe," he said in the release.
He also commented on his appointment to the Ethics and Elections Committee.
"The Ethics and Elections Committee has a big job to do," Windhorst said. "I am hopeful the committee’s work will focus on cleaning up government corruption, stopping the culture of self-service over public service, and ensure our elections are free and fair.”
Windhorst was named the House Republican Floor leader in January. Additionally, he is a permanent member of the Economic Opportunity and Equity Committee as well as Minority spokesman for the House Restorative Justice Committee.
Windhorst was first elected to serve in the Illinois House during the 2018 general election, the General Assembly website said. His legislative experience includes serving on the Restorative Justice and Judiciary - Criminal committees. He resides in Metropolis.
