Q4 2022 Recap: 3 parolees from Saline County convicted of drug crimes set for release

There were three offenders convicted of drug crimes living in Saline County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the SE Illinois News.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 34. The youngest parolee was a 27-year-old man sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 36-year-old man sentenced in 2021.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Melvin Davis Jr. He was convicted in 2020 when he was 32 years old. He is now 34.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of drug crimes were paroled during the fourth quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
