Village of Smithton Committee of a Whole met Feb. 28.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
Mayor Smallwood called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at Village Hall. Trustees Becherer, Rogers, Elbe, Hildreth, Mourey, and Hopkins were in attendance. Also in attendance was Supervisor Dean Klein.
PARK RETAINING WALL – Building retaining walls at the park in 2 areas around the lake to coincide with the widening of the park trail were discussed. There is concern about getting all the trail upgrades completed in a timely manner due to events being held at the park.
WATER TOWER RESTORATION MAINTENANCE PLAN – A proposed contract was discussed, and questions were raised. Questions will be brought to Engineer Saeger to be answered.
JO MAR NO PARKING ZONE – A resident has requested a no parking sign on Jo Mar Street. It was determined that we will not install a no parking sign.
1 N. MAIN PROPERTY – Discussion was had about what can be done with the partially completed building on the property.
WATER, SEWER, AND TRASH FEES – It was determined to raise the trash fees from $10.45 for regular to $11.45 and $8.50 for seniors to $9.50. The water and sewer fees will continue to be reviewed.
BUDGET – Some suggested revisions to the draft budget are to add on the income side funds for the water tower restoration so they equal on the expense side. Also look at the funds for the park grant and make sure the revenue and expenses are equal. Everyone will continue to review the draft budget.
Trustee Elbe made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Rogers to go into Executive Session. All Trustees were in favor. The motion was granted.
PERSONNEL – This was discussed in Executive Session.
EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION PACKAGE – This was discussed in Executive Session.
Trustee Rogers made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Elbe to enter back into regular meeting. All Trustees were in favor. The motion was granted.
Trustee Rogers made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Hildreth to adjourn. All Trustees were in favor. The motion was granted. Meeting adjourned at 9:35 pm.
