Village of Smithton Committee of a Whole met April 25.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
Mayor Smallwood called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at Village Hall. Trustees Becherer, Rogers, Elbe, Hildreth, Mourey, and Hopkins were in attendance. Also in attendance was Engineer Scott Saeger and Todd Reyling.
3774 ROUTE 159 (KUNEVICH ENTRANCE AND SEWER) – A proposed building at 3774 State Route 159 was discussed. There is currently a driveway/street for the entrance to this property. Discussion was had about the future of this property entrance and the options. Dividing this property between the property owners was discussed or oiling and chipping the street that lies within the property that was annexed to the Village. A meeting with all property owners to discuss the future of this property was determined. Currently there is no sewer to this property. Options for sewer were discussed. Boring under Douglas Road with sewer lines was mentioned with agreement from the property owners. The proposed plans also call for apartments above the proposed business and this would need to go before the Zoning Board for approval.
BRIA BUILDING & PROPERTY – The Mayor, Board and Engineer were able to tour the building and property followed by discussion on the future of this building. The current zoning of this property was also discussed. Further discussion will be had about this property.
SMITHTON SENIOR CENTER – We received a quote from Phillips Co. for removal and replacement of the existing ceiling tiles and grids at the Smithton Senior Center. We will be accepting additional bids for this project.
SMITHTON LIBRARY STORY WALK –The Smithton Library is interested in creating a story walk along the trail at the Smithton Park. They have provided information for permanent structures for the story walk. Funding and grants for this project were also discussed.
Trustee Rogers made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Hildreth to adjourn. All Trustees were in favor. The motion was granted. Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
