Village of Smithton Committee of a Whole met May 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Mayor Smallwood called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at Village Hall. Trustees Becherer, Rogers, Elbe, Mourey, Hopkins, and Reyling were in attendance.

3774 ROUTE 159 (KUNEVICH ENTRANCE AND SEWER) – Mayor Smallwood stated that Engineer Saeger has talked with the property owners adjoining 3774 State Route 159 property and they are good with the Village maintaining the first 100 feet of the road that would go to the proposed business. Getting sewer to this area was discussed. It was requested to have Engineer Saeger get with engineer firms to get estimates on options for sewer. Once we receive estimates, we’ll meet with the proposed business owners.

BRIA BUILDING & PROPERTY – Mayor Smallwood has talked with a representative from Bria, and he stated that the asbestos study has been done, but they are still waiting for the results. We will move forward as soon as we receive the study.

VILLAGE HALL SIGN – We received a contract for the sign and installation. Attorney Durso has reviewed the contract and suggested that a warranty for the workmanship and Sprengel providing proof of insurance need to be added to the contract. Mayor Smallwood stated that he will reach out to Mr. Sprengel to revise the contract.

508 CORTNER –It was agreed to allow the property owners to move forward with their new fence proposal.

INSURANCE – New insurance rates and coverage for employees were reviewed and discussed. There is a 4.6% ($11,000) increase.

Trustee Rogers made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Elbe to adjourn. All Trustees were in favor. The motion was granted. Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
