New Hope Consolidated Community School District #6 Board of Education met May 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met on May 16, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.

President Jeremy Vaughan called the meeting to order at 7:01 P.M.

Ryan Green made a motion to approve the April 18, 2023 regular meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Brandon Fry.

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial

information. Bank balances as of April 30, 2023:

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,337,966.42

IPTIP: $977.88

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $468,047.88

Fairfield National Bank CD: $500,000.00

Jason Simpson made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Second by Dan Devous.

Nay: None         Carried

Ryan Green made a motion to pay the bills with no additions or exclusions noted. Second by Jason Simpson.

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report. ISBE conducted a cafeteria audit recently resulting in few findings including bread not whole grain, increase in vegetables, paraprofessional’s need trained on meal components. There are no fines or fiscal action. Local board member training has been cancelled due to lack of interest. New board members will need to complete their required training online. Chicago conference registration opens in June. Student last day of school is May 22 nd with a 12:30 P.M. dismissal. Teachers will meet after dismissal to discuss possible handbook changes. Sports banquet is Thursday at 6:00 P.M. and sports awards at 6:45 P.M. Geff Grade School has contacted us regarding possible boys baseball co-op. EcoAdvantage has provided a $6,300 quote to finish the junior high bathrooms in an epoxy finish. They will remove the existing tile for an additional $1,000.

1. Jason Simpson made a motion to approve resolution for paving work using Health, Life, Safety funds. Second by Dan Devous.

2. Jason Simpson made a motion to accept pavement bid from Hoffee Construction for $49,995.00. Second by Ryan Green.

Nay: None         Carried

3. Ryan Green made a motion to destroy executive session recordings prior to November 16, 2021. Second by Dan Devous.

Voice Vote: Yea: Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous

Nay: None         Carried

5. Dan Devous made a motion to set cafeteria prices for 2023-2024, student breakfast $1.30, student lunch $2.60, adult lunch $3.10. Second by Tom Barton.

Voice Vote: Yea: Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry

Nay: None         Carried

6. Jason Simpson made a motion to accept Jade Brooks’s resignation as paraprofessional.

Second by Ryan Green.

Dan Devous made a motion to enter executive session at 7:19 P.M. for student discipline and personnel appointment. Second by Jason Simpson.

Dan Devous made a motion to return to open session at 8:15 P.M. Second by Jason Simpson.

4. Jason Simpson made a motion to approve health curriculum. Second by Dan Devous.

Board held a brief discussion regarding the potential boys baseball co-op with Geff Grade School.

Dan Devous made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:46 P.M. Second by Jason Simpson.
