Darren Bailey’s campaign for the 12th District of Southern Illinois is heating up.

On July 4 Bailey, a former state senator and Republican candidate for governor in Illinois, announced his bid for Congress in the 12th District of Southern Illinois, challenging incumbent Congressman Mike Bost in the primary.

“Friends, we launched our campaign to fight for Southern Illinois on our family farm. Together, we will revitalize our communities and take back our voice and our country,” Bailey said on Facebook on July 7. “We will restore economic stability, create opportunities for growth and prosperity, secure our border, and achieve American energy independence.”

Bailey has always been keen on pushing back against the radical agenda "that seeks to undermine our values and restore freedom across our land.” He pledged a promising future tomorrow for everyone, including the future generations.

Bailey, known for his conservative politics and endorsement by former President Donald Trump, highlighted his commitment to fighting against what he referred to as "woke nonsense" and restoring freedom and values in his campaign announcement. The race, featuring two Trump-supporting conservatives, is expected to be closely watched, with Bailey aiming to secure the seat currently held by Bost in a district that has shown support for Trump in previous elections. He hopes to gain Trump's endorsement once again, which could be advantageous in the primary race.

Bailey has set up an account for individual donations at Win Red.

“The political class in Washington, D.C. has failed us time after time putting special interests before the people. Darren Bailey knows what it means to work hard and put the people first!” His Win Red profile reads.

He noted the fundraiser campaign on his Facebook page.

“I'm ready to continue our fight for hard-working families in Southern Illinois. I'm running to fight for YOU in Congress by representing Illinois' 12th District. This district is my home, where my family is, and where we own and operate our family farm,” Bailey said on Facebook. “I will always listen to the people and be a strong voice for our communities and conservative values.
