New Hope Consolidated Community School District #6 Board of Education met Aug. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met on August 15, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.

President Jeremy Vaughan called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Roll Call: Present: Jason Simpson

Dan Devous

Tom Barton

Jeremy Gray

Absent: Brandon Fry

Also Present: Julie Harrelson, Superintendent

Jason Simpson made a motion to approve the July 18, 2023 regular meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Dan Devous.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Tom Barton, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan

Nay: None Carried

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of July 31, 2023:

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,087,630.20

IPTIP: $990.75

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $468,908.44

Fairfield National Bank CD: $500,000.00

Jeremy Gray made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Second by Tom Barton.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Tom Barton

Nay: None Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to pay the bills with one exclusion, Robbins Schwartz $50.00, noted. Second by Dan Devous.

Dan Devous, Tom Barton

Nay: None Carried

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report. Current enrollment for this year is 186 students. New carpet was installed in Mrs. Pope’s classroom on Friday. The basement waterproofing project is scheduled to start the end of September and be completed by November 30 th . We have implemented TeacherEase as a new student management system.

The high school has hired Sharon Benskin as a bus driver taking us back to three routes.

Norman Taylor is currently filling in until she completes her licensing. Maintenance grants are coming in again. Kerry is suggesting looking at the geothermal system which has been an ongoing issue. Information on the electric buses has been given to the board. Eighty-eight

students qualified for the AR & IXL reward party which will be at Sky Zone in Evansville on Wednesday.

New Business:

1. Jason Simpson made a motion to accept Administrator & Teacher Salary & Benefits report.

Second by Tom Barton.

Nay: None Carried

2. Dan Devous made a motion to hire Billy Lewis as assistant girls basketball coach. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Voice Vote: Yea: Dan Devous, Tom Barton, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson

Nay: None Carried

3. Jason Simpson made a motion to hire Melissa Curd for tutoring. Second by Dan Devous.

Voice Vote: Yea: Tom Barton, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous

Nay: None Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 P.M. Second by Dan Devous.
