Galatia Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Sept. 18.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
The special meeting of the Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board was held in the boardroom at the Annex. Roll call was taken, and those present were Tim Pribble, Elaine Jackson, B.J. Pigg, Holly Murphy, and Leslie Ferrell. Bryan McCabe and Amy Richey were absent. Five (5) members present and two (2) members absent. Board President, Tim Pribble, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Also present: Superintendent, Shain Crank, and HS Principal, Ashley Launius.
VISITORS:
There were no visitors.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
1. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Jackson to enter Executive Session at 6:01 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; matters of student discipline or review executive session minutes. Jackson-aye, Murphy-aye, Ferrell-aye, Pribble-aye, and Pigg-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
2. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to end Executive Session at 6:10 p.m. Jackson-aye, Pigg-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, and Ferrell-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
3. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to approve the Executive Session minutes. Murphy- aye, Ferrell-aye, Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, and Jackson-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Separation Agreement
4. A motion was made by Jackson and seconded by Pribble to accept a separation agreement as presented with Alexis Ragsdale. Murphy-aye, Ferrell-aye, Pigg-aye, Jackson-aye, and Pribble-aye. Five (5) ayes, motion carried.
Amy Richey entered the meeting at 6:15 p.m.
NEW BUSINESS:
Construction Management
5. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Pribble to approve proceeding with a weight room/concession stand to be part of a larger construction management agreement. Ferrell-aye, Murphy- aye, Richey-aye, Jackson-aye, Pigg-aye, and Pribble-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT:
6. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Richey to adjourn at 6:25 p.m. Ferrell-aye, Jackson-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye. Six (6) ayes, motion carried.
