Darren Bailey, a candidate for Congressional District 12, recently expressed fervent commitment to defending Second Amendment rights during an event in Caseyville. His stance is against what he describes as a “preposterous” ban on rifles and an “un-American” gun registry. The key focus of his argument revolves around upholding constitutional rights and individual liberties.
“It was great to join so many patriots in Caseyville this morning to confront a dire threat that has been unleashed upon law-abiding citizens in Illinois and in the United States of America. Our Second Amendment rights are under attack, but they are not up for negotiation. To those who believe we will quietly comply with a gun registry, I have one clear message: you couldn’t be more wrong,” Bailey said on Facebook.
“You can tell our Governor, comfortably residing in his gated mansion with private security, that if he wants our firearms, he’ll have to pry them from our cold, dead hands. This is America, where we’ve fought for our freedoms with unwavering resolve throughout history.”
“We will not bow down. We will not cower in fear. We will defend our liberties and our families from any threat, even if that threat emanates from our own government. We demand transparency, and we demand respect for our constitutional rights. The road ahead must be one of dialogue and understanding, not one of trampling on the very essence of what makes this nation great,” he continued passionately before adding; “Our Founding Fathers understood the importance of an armed citizenry as a safeguard against tyranny, and we will uphold that legacy with unwavering determination.”
Bailey’s stance mirrors that held by State Rep. Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) who has raised concerns about the Protecting Illinois Communities Act which banned over 700 types of commonly owned firearms within the state. During a recent hearing, Halbrook noted that “hundreds of thousands of people absolutely will not comply” with a registry of those firearms as a federal appeal is being considered.
After the ban was enacted Bailey asserted that he would defend his Second Amendment rights by any means necessary. This claim was made in a video on Facebook where he stated, “I will die on this front porch before I give up any of my Second Amendment freedoms.” This statement came following the Illinois Supreme Court's decision to uphold the state’s gun and magazine ban.
In related news, Law Weapons and Supply in Naperville introduced an innovative way to avoid the registry. They created the LAW-BOLT Manual Conversion kit which allows gun owners to convert their AR-15 into a single-shot bolt action rifle. This conversion removes it from the scope of the state’s assault weapons ban and eliminates the need for registration under the state’s assault weapon registry. Priced at $119.95, this kit provides a legal and simple solution for firearm enthusiasts in Illinois to enjoy their AR-15 while adhering to state laws.
