Darren Bailey, a candidate for the 12th Congressional District, is not mincing words when addressing his concerns about the Biden administration’s handling of the border, accusing the president of ceding control to cartels involved in human trafficking. He labeled the situation as “despicable” and called for bold measures to secure the borders, going so far as to categorize the cartels as terrorists.
“Joe Biden’s handling of the border, ceding control to cartels involved in human trafficking, is despicable,” Bailey said on Facebook. “We need to be bold in securing our borders, calling these cartels what they are: terrorists.”
“No more political correctness, no more open borders,” he added. “We must BUILD THE WHOLE WALL, no compromises.”
In addition to his stance on border security, Bailey has launched a campaign aimed at revitalizing Southern Illinois and giving the community a collective voice. According to him, the campaign's mission is centered around restoring economic stability, securing borders, achieving American energy independence and fostering growth opportunities. He opposes what he perceives as a radical agenda and frames his campaign as a fight to uphold values and freedom.
"Our message is clear: Cartels, your days of trafficking are over," Bailey added. "As your Congressman, I promise to lead this fight, never backing down, to ensure our nation's safety and future. Let's secure our border and protect our families. Our safety and future depend on it."
In light of an increase in illegal immigrant drop-offs in Illinois since Dec. 22, Bailey emphasizes the urgent need for enhanced border security measures. Reports suggest that up to 800 illegal immigrants are being deposited in Illinois each day. This surge coincides with Chicago imposing fines and potential impoundment for buses dropping off illegal immigrants within city limits without prior notice, according to Patch. The matter gained attention during a Hinsdale Village Board meeting, where officials were informed that such incidents were expected to persist through March.
Bailey, a former state senator and the 2022 GOP candidate, has deep roots in southern Illinois where he spent his early years on the Bailey Family Farm. He now co-manages the farm with his sons. Under their management, Bailey Family Grain, Bailey Family Freight, and BNB Excavating have flourished. This success reflects their commitment to creating a lasting legacy and fulfilling their farming aspirations, as stated on their website.
