New Hope Consolidated Community School District #6 Board of Education met May 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met on May 21, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.

President Jeremy Vaughan called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

Roll Call: Present: Jason Simpson

Dan Devous

Brandon Fry

Jeremy Vaughan

Absent: Tom Barton

Ryan Green

Also Present: Julie Harrelson, Superintendent

Dan Devous made a motion to approve the April 16, 2024 regular meeting minutes and theApril 9, 2024 special meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Jason Simpson.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Jeremy Vaughan, Brandon Fry

Nay: None Carried

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of April 30, 2024:

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,577,550.13

IPTIP: $1,031.96

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $480,488.30

Fairfield National Bank CD: $520,199.99

Jason Simpson made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Second by Brandon Fry.Voice Vote: Yea: Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry

Nay: None Carried

Dan Devous made a motion to pay the bills with no additions or exclusions noted. Second byJason Simpson.

Nay: None Carried

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report. Our scholastic bowl team are regional champs. Lions Club Education of the Year went to Ardis Barbre. Malori Simpson qualified for the state track meet. The pavement striping has been postponed due to weather. School board conference registration is open. The sports banquet profited $2,331 for the sports boosters. There will not be an amended budget this year. New basketball uniforms have been ordered. New cheer uniforms will be ordered soon. Our preliminary IAR scores are up from previous years.

New Business:

1. Jason Simpson made a motion to destroy executive session recordings prior to November 15, 2022. Second by Brandon Fry.

Nay: None Carried

2. Dan Devous made a motion to approve gym floor design. Second by Brandon Fry.

Voice Vote: Yea: Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson

Nay: None Carried

3. Jason Simpson made a motion to set cafeteria prices for 2024-2025 at $1.40 for student breakfast and $2.70 for student lunch. Second by Brandon Fry.

Voice Vote: Yea: Brandon Fry, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous

Nay: None Carried

4. Jason Simpson made a motion to accept low bid for HVAC/geothermal renovation. Secon by Brandon Fry.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry

Nay: None Carried

Dan Devous made a motion to enter executive session at 7:24 P.M. for personnel performance, employment, and compensation, and student discipline. Second by Brandon Fry.

Nay: None Carried

Dan Devous made a motion to return to open session at 8:08 P.M. Second by Brandon Fry.

5. Dan Devous made a motion to accept resignation from Tori Toombs. Second by Jason Simpson.

6. Dan Devous made a motion to hire Sherry Wells as individual aide. Second by Brandon Fry.

7. Brandon Fry made a motion to hire Larry Stubbs as technology coordinator. Second by Jason Simpson.

8. Jason Simpson made a motion to hire Carrie Rapp as teacher. Second by Brandon Fry.

9. Jason Simpson made a motion to pay Julie Harrelson grant stipend of $2,500.00. Second by Brandon Fry.

Dan Devous made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:12 P.M. Second by Jason Simpson.
