New Hope Consolidated Community School District #6 Board of Education met July 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met on July 16, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.

President Jeremy Vaughan called the meeting to order at 7:01 P.M.

Also Present: Britany Pope, Superintendent

Jason Simpson made a motion to approve the consent agenda containing approval of June 18, 2024 regular meeting minutes, June 13, 2024 special committee meeting minutes, acceptance of the treasurer’s report as of June 30, 2024, approval to pay bills, and approval to destroy closed session audio recordings older than 18 months. Second by Brandon Fry.

Nay: None Carried

Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of June 30, 2024:

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,458,432.10

IPTIP: $1,041.21

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $483,104.96

Fairfield National Bank CD: $520,199.99

Mrs. Pope presented the Superintendent’s Report: FOIA requests included in board packets included request for employee names, emails, etc. Review of fiscal year 2024 revenue and expenditure reports. District account interest rate increased ¼%. Building projects update include gym floor completed, stage curtains ordered but could take 12-14 weeks for the black curtain with white block lettering. Superintendent administrator academy will be on August 5th. Teacher institute days are scheduled for August 12th and 13th and will include the mandated state training for staff. Open house is scheduled for August 12th 6:00-7:30 P.M. First day for students will be on August 14th. Registration was held today with approximately 80 students taking advantage of online registration. Several new students registered today in-house. The annual Holiday World trip for beta club and perfect attendance students will be on July 19th.

1. Jason Simpson made a motion to reinstate the working cash fund. Second by Dan Devous.

Nay: None Carried

2. Ryan Green made a motion to adopt board goals for fiscal year 2025. Second by Tom Barton.

Voice Vote: Yea: Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jeremy Vaughan, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton

Nay: None Carried

3. Tom Barton made a motion to authorize expenditures and display fiscal year 2025 tentative budget. Second by Ryan Green.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Vaughan

Nay: None Carried

Dan Devous made a motion to enter executive session at 7:15 P.M. for personnel appointment, and compensation. Second by Jason Simpson.

Nay: None Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to return to open session at 7:41 P.M. Second by Dan Devous.

Nay: None Carried

4. Ryan Green made a motion to advertise for school custodian. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Nay: None Carried

5. Tom Barton made a motion to approve intergovernmental agreement with Jasper for speech services. Second by Dan Devous.

Nay: None Carried

6. Dan Devous made a motion to approve Britany Pope as IMRF agent. Second by Brandon Fry.

Nay: None Carried

7. Jason Simpson made a motion to increase substitute teacher pay $15 per day, $130 per day for regular substitute teachers and $140 per day for New Hope retiree substitute teachers. Second by Brandon Fry.

Nay: None Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 P.M. Second by Dan Devous.
