Allendale Community Consolidated School District 17 Board of Education met Oct. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Allendale School District #17, Wabash County, Illinois, met in regular session on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The meeting was held at the Allendale School, 101 N. Third Street, Allendale, IL. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM.

The following members were present:

Also present was Supt./Principal Bob Bowser, Principal Lori Stevens, Admin. Asst. Sarah Courter, and Newspaper Reporter Xane Ballenger.

APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA

Richard Gochenour made the motion to approve the Consent Agenda as follows: Minutes of the Regular Meeting held Wednesday, September 25, 2024; Financial Reports – Treasurer’s Report, Activity Fund, Imprest Fund; Gross Payrolls, and Bills Exclusive of Payroll. Upon said motion being seconded by Beth Etzkorn, President Gary Buchanan put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

STAFF – None

ADMINISTRATION – Superintendent Bob Bowser gave updates on the following: Financial Update - 1% Sales Tax $6,280.70 payable in November for July 2024; Expenditures for the month in the Education $152,912, Building $11,351, & Transportation $47,719 with the 3-Fund Total of $211,982; Facility Update - Chiller is off and waiting to turn-on Boiler until needed; new lights should be in today per Clint Bolden; Transportation - None; Sports - Boys and Girls Basketball has started; XC Regional was last Wednesday night - Ryland Houchin, Nora Meeks, and Alaina Ile are going to State at DuQuoin on Saturday, October 19.

Principal Lori Stevens updated us that grade cards went home today; Student Council will have Red Ribbon Week October 21-25 - will have dress-up days: PJ Day, Sports/Hat Day, Western Day, Disney Day, and Dynamic Duo Day - there is also a door decorating contest; 4th Grade field trip to Beall Woods on October 25; 1st-3rd and 5th-8th will go to WVC for a Bluegrass Show on October 25; JH Field Trip to Ice Hockey in Evansville on October 29; first BBB is on October 29 vs. ACA; 3rd-8th Grades are going to the Health Fair at the high school on October 30; Trunk or Treat on October 31; first GBB game is November 1st; No school on November 4th and 5th (PTC off day use on 4th/Election day on 5th); 8th Grade is going to JobSpark in Evansville on November 7; Veteran’s Day Program for the students and community on November 8th - Tom Ford will be the speaker; Family Reading Night will be November 19 - the theme is A Night at the Zoo; Parent-Teacher Conferences will be October 22 and 23 from 3:30-6:00 PM; PK went to the pumpkin patch and K,1,2 went to the apple orchard earlier this month; 3rd/4th are planning on bowling for their 1st quarter trip.

PRESENTATION OF FY24 ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT

Eric Haines made the motion to approve the report from Kemper CPA in regards to our FY24 Annual Financial Report. Upon said motion being seconded by Richard Gochenour, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

APPROVE ADMINISTRATOR AND TEACHER SALARY AND BENEFITS 2024-2025 Richard Gochenour made the motion to approve the Administrator and Teacher Salary and Benefits 2024-2025 as presented. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.

ABATE CAPITAL PROJECTS FUNDS TO DEBT SERVICE FUND

Beth Etzkorn moved to abate $10,000 from the Capital Projects Fund to the Debt Service Fund. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

CONSIDER APPOINTING DELEGATE TO THE 2024 JOINT ANNUAL CONFERENCE Richard Gochenour made the motion to not send members to the Joint Annual Conference in November. Upon said motion being seconded by Eric Haines, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

APPROVAL TO DISCARD OBSOLETE/EXCESS EQUIPMENT

Eric Haines moved to approve declaring the 3 wall maps (U.S. and World); 2 metal teacher desks (5 drawer); 5 metal, 2 drawer filing cabinets; volleyball net system; 1 metal shelving unit (3 shelves); 7 board meeting chairs; 4 rolling teacher podiums; old washing machine as obsolete/excess equipment. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.

Eric Haines made the motion to adjourn the Wednesday, October 16, 2024, Allendale Community Consolidated School District #17 Board of Education meeting at 6:32 PM. Upon said motion being seconded by Beth Etzkorn, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.
