State Senator Dale Fowler collaborated with Meridian Health Plan of Illinois to distribute 250 free Thanksgiving turkeys to local families in need. The event took place at Heaven’s Kitchen in Harrisburg on November 26, providing a traditional holiday meal for those who might otherwise go without.

“Thanksgiving is a time for community, gratitude, and giving back. Our purpose behind this turkey giveaway is to make a small difference in the lives of those in need in the 59th District,” said Senator Fowler. “I’m incredibly grateful to Meridian for their generosity and commitment to helping families in our area. Together, we are ensuring that more people can experience the joy of a Thanksgiving meal.”

The turkeys were donated by Meridian and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis within the Saline County community. Heaven’s Kitchen served as the central location for this annual event.

“This marks the third year of our partnership with Meridian, and each year it’s so rewarding to see the impact we can make together,” added Senator Fowler.

Meridian provided all turkeys free of charge. The organization offers government-sponsored managed care services across Illinois, catering to families, children, seniors, and individuals with complex medical needs.
