Allendale Community Consolidated School District 17 Board of Education met March 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Allendale School District #17, Wabash County, Illinois, met in regular session on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The meeting was held at the Allendale School, 101 N. Third Street, Allendale, IL. The meeting was called to order at 6:02 PM.

The following members were present: 

Ryan Andrews

Richard Gochenour

Eric Haines

Miles Marcotte

Tia Morgan

Absent were Gary Buchanan and Beth Etzkorn. Also present were Supt./Principal Bob Bowser, Principal Lori Stevens, Admin. Asst. Sarah Courter, Tiffany Seaton, Judy Majors, Rayna Prettyman, and Xane, the Newspaper Reporter.

APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA

Richard Gochenour made the motion to approve the Consent Agenda as follows: Minutes of the Regular Meeting and Closed Meeting held Wednesday, February 19, 2025; Financial Reports – Treasurer’s Report, Activity Fund, Imprest Fund; Gross Payrolls, and Bills Exclusive of Payroll. Upon said motion being seconded by Eric Haines, Vice President Beth Etzkorn put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

STAFF – None

ADMINISTRATION –

Superintendent Bob Bowser gave updates on the following: Financial Update - 1% Sales Tax $8,346.66 payable in April for December 2024; Expenditures for the month in the Education $200,021, Building $11,862, & Transportation $7,413 with the 3-Fund Total of $219,296; Facility Update - Judy Majors (K/PK) and Rayna Prettyman (JH Math/6th Social Studies) introduced themselves and updated the board on their class on past/upcoming projects; Transportation - None; Sports - None; Other - The Allendale Fire Protection District has their Easter Egg Hunt Scheduled for April 19.

Principal Lori Stevens gave updates on the following: 3rd Quarter ended and sent home; March 3 - Family Math Night; Mr. Waldroup took some of the 8th graders to the Regional Science Fair in Carbondale; Volleyball Regional vs. St. Joe was on March 18 (ended the season); VB had a Taco Night as a fundraiser at an Allendale hosted VB Game vs. Mt. Carmel; Several sports had their annual awards banquets; the GBB had their annual March Dadness fundraiser at SMS; we had a Planetarium presentation that took up nearly half the gym - we invited St. Mary’s to join us; later in April, we will have another presentation called EarthDome (Geography based); State testing is underway; have had several field trips - K-2 CMoe, 3-4 Deep Blue; JH - in-house Field Trip, and 3-5 Philharmonic. All teacher observations are completed and would like to do observations on assistants next year. Parent-Teacher Conferences are Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30-6:00 PM. Virtual Reality (VR) training is in April.

APPROVAL TO RELEASE CLOSED SESSION VERBATIM MINUTES

Ryan Andrews moved to not release the closed session verbatim minutes of August 21, 2024 and December 18, 2024. Upon said motion being seconded by Richard Gochenour, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

APPROVE 2025-2026 SCHOOL CALENDAR

Eric Haines moved to adopt the 2025-2026 School Calendar as presented. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.

APPROVE TENTATIVE END OF YEAR DATES FOR 2024-2025

Richard Gochenour made the motion to approve 8th Grade Promotion on Tuesday, May 20; Awards Day on Thursday, May 22; Teacher Institute on Friday, May 23; Last School Day on Tuesday, May 27. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.

EMPLOYMENT - TENURED TEACHERS

Eric Haines moved to roll over all previously tenured teachers (Ryan Dougherty, Elizabeth Irelan, Elizabeth Perry, Dena Tarpley, Nick Waldroup) for the 2025-2026 school year. Upon said motion being seconded by Tia Morgan, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

EMPLOYMENT - GRANT TENURE

Tia Morgan moved to grant tenure to the following teachers: Mrs. Kelsey Margelin and Mrs. Tiffany Seaton, for the 2025-2026 school year. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

Upon said motion being seconded by Richard Gochenour, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

Richard Gochenour moved to re-employ the listed support staff (Administrative Assistant, Sarah Courter; Yearbook Sponsor, Sarah Courter; Head Custodian, Amy Kingsbury; Assistant Custodian, Ron Witsman; Bus Drivers Tom Jefferson and Doug Hawf; Complaint Manager/Tech Support, Nick Waldroup; Health Aide, Kristi Isaac; Coaches: Jeremy Bray (Head Baseball), Adam Buchanan (Volunteer Baseball), Abraham Naas (Volunteer Baseball), Brittany Weiss (Cross Country), Olivia Alka (Cheer Coach)) for the 2025-26 school year. Upon being seconded by Tia Morgan, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:
