State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) has responded to reports that Charlie Kirk was shot during an event at a Utah college. In a statement released today, Windhorst expressed concern and called for nonviolent political engagement.
“I am deeply saddened to learn that Charlie Kirk has been shot while speaking at a Utah college event this afternoon. My prayers are with Charlie and his wife and children. I condemn this act of violence, which should not be a part of politics. We should work to resolve our differences through discussion and dialogue, not violence,” Windhorst said.
Windhorst is a Republican who began serving in the Illinois State House in 2023, representing the 117th District after succeeding Natalie Phelps Finnie.
