Galatia Public Library District Board of Trustees met May 22.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
The Library Board Meeting was called to order by Vice-President, Marge Fulkerson at 5:00 pm.
Roll call was taken with the following present: Davis, Dilback, Eaton, Fulkerson, Hunter, and Jackson and Sisney.
Minutes:
A motion was made by Jackson and seconded by Eaton to approve the minutes from the April, 2018 meeting. All approved. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
A motion was made by Fulkerson and seconded by Sisney to approve the financial report from the April, 2018 meeting. All approved. Motion carried.
Directors Report for May, 2018:
Seed packets provided by the “Friends” group have been very popular. They want to continue it until the end of the month or the seed packets are gone.
Children’s Book Week had a 1st grade class visit with 22 students and 2 adults. Each child who attended got a free book provided by the “Friends”.
Two 2nd grade classes and a kindergarten class are also scheduled to come before the end of school.
Pre-K story time ends May 23.
We will be printing receipts when patrons check out material that lets them know how much money they saved today as well as how much they have saved since they have been a patron. We think it will be very informative for them to see the value of their library card.
U of I extension classes with Miss Robin begin June 4 and continue each Monday in June.
Summer Reading begins July 2-23 on Mondays. “Reading takes you Everywhere!” is the theme.
June 5 from 5:00-6:30 Katrina Cerutti will present an essential oils class. She will have refreshments.
Back to Books Grant check for $1000.00 received.
I plan to take a off a few days after Memorial Day.

New Business:
A motion was made by Eaton and seconded by Fulkerson to have Cannon Heating and Air Conditioning repair the South AC compressor at a cost of $1950.
Betty will check with Cannon regarding replacement cost of the back AC unit to update it without Freon.
A motion was made by Eaton and seconded by Sisney to accept the FY19 tentative meeting dates. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Fulkerson and seconded by Eaton to participate in the Public Library Non-Resident Services Program effective July 1,2018 through June 30, 2019, and that our service area will be the Galatia School District. Motion carried.
