FOIA Request to Saline County Clerk Regarding Candidates for the 2025 Consolidated Elections on January 14, 2025.
In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SE Illinois News have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Saline County Clerk.
The request, dated January 14, 2025, seeks access to public records pertaining to the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections. Specifically, we have asked for a list of candidates running in these elections. The requested details include each candidate's name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are running for.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe that access to such information is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have therefore requested this information preferably in an electronic format for ease of dissemination.
We also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in gathering and reporting news to the public.
