FOIA Request to White County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SE Illinois News have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was made specifically for an electronic format list of candidates running in the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.
The requested information includes the candidate's name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are running for. This data is crucial in our role as media professionals in gathering and reporting news to the public.
Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
