West Salem Fire Department issued the following announcement on May 17.
To some of you that don't know,every year the volunteer fireman of the West Salem volunteer Firemen's association donate money each month throughout the year. (This money is given by the firemen not fundraisers. ) to fund 2 scholarships each year.
Each Firemen look over the applications and vote on the applicant. We have been doing this for several years and are very proud to do it as a service to our young adults. The applications are available every year to seniors to pick up at school.
We have some great kids and wish we could give each one a scholarship but we have to keep at 2 for now. Congratulations to the Class of 2019! SALUTE!
