The majority of students in Hamilton County district's were white in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

Of the 1,130 students attending Hamilton County district schools, 95.4% were white. Multi-racial students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 2.1% of Hamilton County's districts students.

In the previous school year, white students were the most common group in Hamilton County's school district, representing 96% of the student body.

In the 2021-22 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public school district in the county increased 5.8% when compared to the previous year.

There is only one school district within Hamilton County, with its head office located in McLeansboro.
