Hamilton Memorial Hospital District has named Justin Epperson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025. Epperson had been serving as Interim CEO since July, following the departure of Victoria Woodrow, who led the hospital district for ten years.

Epperson joined Hamilton Memorial Hospital District in 2018 as Chief Financial Officer. In that role, he developed a long-term strategic financial plan, improved communication between departments, and managed modernization projects throughout the organization. Before joining HMHD, he worked for 16 years as a financial analyst at SSM Health in Mt. Vernon.

A native of Hamilton County, Epperson holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Accounting and Public Administration at SIU.

“I’m honored and humbled to have the opportunity to continue serving Hamilton Memorial Hospital District in this new capacity,” said Epperson. “This organization and community mean a great deal to me, and I’m committed to building on our strong foundation to ensure continued high-quality care for our patients.”

Wayne Morris, President of the HMHD Board of Directors, voiced support for Epperson’s appointment. “Justin has proven himself to be a thoughtful and steady leader, both as CFO and during his time as Interim CEO,” said Morris. “His deep understanding of our operations, paired with his dedication to the community, make him the right choice to lead HMHD into the future. The Board has full confidence in his ability to guide the hospital through the evolving healthcare landscape.”

Victoria Woodrow served as CEO for ten years before stepping down in July 2025. During her tenure, she oversaw improvements in patient care, facility upgrades, and expanded community outreach.

The hospital district stated it looks forward to continuing its mission under Epperson’s leadership.
