Fairfield Memorial Hospital has announced the purchase of a new Olympus BX43 upright clinical microscope for its laboratory, made possible by support from the FMH Auxiliary.

The hospital stated that this advanced equipment is expected to improve diagnostic capabilities and patient care in its laboratory services. The Olympus BX43 model is recognized for its optical quality, ergonomic features, and reliability. It is commonly used in routine clinical and histopathology work.

“We are deeply grateful for the FMH Auxiliary’s commitment to advancing our hospital’s diagnostic technology,” said Amanda Fearn, MLT, Laboratory Director. “This microscope represents an important upgrade for our lab team and will benefit every patient whose care depends on accurate laboratory results.”

According to Fairfield Memorial Hospital, the key features of the new microscope include high-grade optics for clear imaging, an ergonomic design intended to make use more efficient and comfortable for staff, flexibility for integration with digital systems, and durable construction suitable for busy laboratories.

The hospital expects that with this addition, its laboratory will be able to deliver faster and more precise diagnostic testing. The new equipment should also allow the lab to handle more tests internally rather than sending samples elsewhere. In addition, it supports a wider range of specialized analyses and is intended to enhance both quality and reliability in laboratory output.
