Hamilton Memorial Hospital District has received an Honorable Mention for Quality Achievement at the 2024 Illinois Rural Community Care Organization (IRCCO) Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Conference. This marks the hospital's first year participating in the ACO program, competing with other healthcare organizations across Illinois.
The recognition highlights Hamilton Memorial Hospital’s commitment to providing patient-centered care in a rural setting. Justin Epperson, CEO of Hamilton Memorial Hospital, said, “Earning this honor in our very first year speaks to the strength of our providers, care teams, and support staff. It proves that exceptional care doesn’t depend on population size or zip code, it comes from dedication, innovation, and a shared belief that our patients deserve the very best.”
A presentation recognizing the achievement was held on November 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the hospital lobby.

The IRCCO ACO model aims to improve health outcomes through coordinated care, preventive services, and data-driven performance evaluation. The Honorable Mention awarded to Hamilton Memorial Hospital reflects excellence in chronic disease management, preventive care delivery, patient safety and follow-up practices, as well as efficient collaboration among providers and departments.
“Rural healthcare comes with challenges, but it also comes with opportunity; opportunity to prove that quality care is possible close to home,” Epperson added. “This recognition affirms that Hamilton Memorial is not just keeping pace - we are leading with purpose.”
Hamilton Memorial Hospital District plans to continue its quality improvement efforts by remaining active in the ACO program and working closely with the IRCCO network.
