Illinois State Senator Gary Forby is being called a hypocrite after changing his stance on education funding.
While Forby voted for Gov. Bruce Rauner's education budget, an ad from Forby's campaign is now criticizing Republican Senate candidate for District 59 Dale Fowler for supporting it.
The ad claims that Fowler wants to take school funding from Southern Illinois and give it to Chicago when in fact, Fowler has stated that funding shouldn't be transferred between communities located outside of the area of Chicago.
In response to the ad, Fowler expressed concern for those in Southern Illinois.
"I know Gary is fighting for his job, but I’m worried about jobs for the people across Southern Illinois," Fowler said. "These politicians have left our students and seniors all alone for more than 10 years; leaving people in Southern Illinois to fend for themselves while their elected officials are busy raising millions of dollars from Springfield and Chicago to pay for ads like this. The people of Southern Illinois deserve better."
