Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17 Board of Education met Nov. 19.

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board President Derek Demaret and Elizabeth Titzer taking the minutes, on November 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. with following board members present:

Board Members Present: Derek Demaret, Jarad Blanton, Beth Titzer Jon Lafikes, Justin Atwood and Josh Zurliene

Board Members Absent: Caitlin Glisson

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session and destruction of closed session minutes, treasurer’s report, approval of monthly bills and payroll, were then approved on a motion by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Jon Lafikes. The votes were as follows:

Jarad Blanton- yes

A motion was made by Jarad Blanton and Josh Zurliene to approve Estimate of 2024 Aggregate Tax Levy at 13.78% with 70/30 bond abatement/extension. The votes were as follows:

Justin Atwood – yes           Caitlin Glisson – absent

Jarad Blanton- yes

A motion was made by Jon Lafikes and seconded by Josh Zurliene to approve School Maintenance Grant for $100,000 with $50,000 match from local funds set aside. The votes were as follows:

Jarad Blanton- yes

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Jarad Blanton to adjust employee compensation and status from assistant boys’ basketball coach to volunteer assistant coach status for Shaun Rush. The votes were as follows:

Jarad Blanton- yes

A motion was made by Justin Atwood and seconded by Josh Zurliene to employ Josh Zurliene as 2024-2025 Boys’ Pee Wee Basketball Coach pending results of EHR and background check. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Jon Lafikes and seconded by Justin Atwood to transfer district checking account from Super Now to Intra Fi Sweep @ Fairfield National Bank. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Jarad Blanton and seconded by Justin Atwood to approve 2025-2026 SIJHSAA participation in Baseball, Softball, Volleyball Girls’ & Boy’s Basketball, Track, Golf & Cross-Country. The votes were as follows:

Justin Atwood – yes       Caitlin Glisson – absent

A motion was made by Justin Atwood and seconded by Beth Titzer adjourn the meeting at 7:02 p.m. The votes were as follows:
